Description
The eastern golden weaver (Ploceus subaureus) is a species of bird in the family Ploceidae. It is found in eastern and south-eastern Africa. Alternative names used for the eastern golden weaver include yellow weaver, olive-headed golden weaver, and African golden weaver.

Feeding Habits
Eastern Golden Weaver predominantly feeds on seeds and grains such as rice. It also consumes insects, including alate termites, and occasionally nectar. Eastern Golden Weaver is known to extract anthers from Nicotiana glauca flowers for feeding. This bird forages actively, often seen gleaning food from plants and the ground.
Habitat
Eastern Golden Weaver is commonly found in varied freshwater wetland habitats, predominantly within coastal plains, low-lying river valleys, and river floodplains. These birds are typically found in regions below 1300 meters in elevation, favoring areas with a proximal connection to the coastline, often within 50 kilometers, but they can also extend up to 100 kilometers inland along river valleys.
