Description
The bearded tachuri (Polystictus pectoralis) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are dry savanna and subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Bearded Tachuri feed primarily on insects, foraging alone or in pairs. Occasionally, they may join other grassland birds. Bearded Tachuri commonly perch on stems and make short flights to glean prey.
Habitat
The bearded Tachuri typically inhabits open environments such as campo, native grasslands, dry savannas with scattered shrubs, and tall grasses within the cerrado ecosystem. This bird species can also be found in areas with low heath-like shrubs and in regions characterized by a Gran Sabana type of vegetation, adapting occasionally to disturbed habitats such as brushy savanna within agricultural landscapes. Its presence is predominantly across broad lowland areas in tropical and subtropical South America.
