Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler primarily eats insects like cicadas, beetles, ants, larvae, and grubs, along with seeds and berries. They forage near the ground, climbing tree trunks and sometimes mimicking woodpeckers or nuthatches by hanging upside-down on mossy branches.
Habitat
Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler typically inhabits dense vegetative environments including thick undergrowth in open forests, bamboo jungles, rhododendron shrubs, and areas with brambles and bracken. They can also be found in man-altered landscapes such as tea gardens, along with jungle edges, hedges, and cogon grass thickets. Generally, streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler favors lower forested regions but can also adapt to scrublands and open coniferous forests in certain geographical zones. They are found across broad areas of South and Southeast Asia.
