Description
The Tucumán mountain finch (Poospiza baeri) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is endemic to shrubby woodland in the Andes of north-western Argentina, but it is possible its distribution extends marginally into adjacent Bolivia. Together with the closely related Cochabamba mountain finch, it is placed in the genus Poospiza. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Habitat
The habitat of tucuman Mountain Finch is characterized by a mosaic of puna grassland and adjacent shrubby woodland, primarily composed of alders (Alnus), Polylepis, and other shrubs. Outside of the breeding season, tucuman Mountain Finch may inhabit willow (Salix) thickets along streams and occasionally descends to human-populated areas such as gardens in urban locations.
