Feeding Habits
Brown Accentor primarily consumes invertebrates in summer and seeds with berries in winter. Nestlings are fed flies, bugs, orthopterans, spiders, lepidopterans, beetles, and snails. Foraging includes ground searching, bush and tree feeding, and catching insects mid-flight. Snow-digging to forage and winter grouping are distinct behaviors.
Habitat
The brown Accentor is commonly found in open rocky or stony alpine and subalpine slopes, as well as in juniper scrub and high barren valleys. These birds show a preference for drier regions within such terrains, although they avoid the driest areas. In the warmer months, their habitat includes areas typically above the tree-line, while in winter, they may also inhabit the upper limits of pine forests and occasionally descend to lower elevations, often being spotted around villages.
