Habitat
The subantarctic Shearwater is a marine species predominantly found in pelagic waters, though it often frequents inshore areas more than other shearwaters, particularly in winters near places like the Auckland Islands. Its breeding grounds are primarily offshore or oceanic islands, where it nests on well-vegetated, grassy slopes, such as those with Spartina tussocks, and occasionally within forested areas.
