Description
The stripe-throated bulbul grows to a length of about 20 cm (8 in). The plumage of both sexes is predominately dull brown with the exception of the forehead, ear coverts, throat and upper breast which are boldly streaked with yellow. The leading edges of the wings and the outer tail feathers are yellowish, the lower breast and belly are streaked with white, and the area around the vent is yellow. Juveniles are similar to adults but the yellow-colouring is more muted. The song is a rather variable loud, clear sequence of throaty notes.

Habitat
The stripe-throated Bulbul predominantly resides in tropical southeastern Asia's evergreen and mixed deciduous forests, commonly favoring forest edges, clearings, and secondary growth areas. This species is well-adapted to a variety of woodland environments, including secondary forests, scrubland, and degraded forest regions. It can also be found in man-made landscapes such as overgrown gardens and beach scrubs. While the stripe-throated Bulbul occurs from sea level up to 1,600 meters, it is primarily encountered in lowland habitats, except in southerly regions where it is known to inhabit mountainous terrain beginning from 200 meters elevation, reaching as high as 1,770 meters in places like Gunung Ulu Kali.
