The Bogotá rail (Rallus semiplumbeus) is a species of bird in the family Rallidae. It is endemic to Colombia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, freshwater lakes, and freshwater marshes. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Feeding Habits
Bogota Rail consumes a varied diet consisting of aquatic invertebrates, insect larvae, worms, mollusks, carrion fish, amphibians like frogs and tadpoles, as well as plant matter. Active from dawn till dusk, bogota Rail forages in vegetated marshes, reedbed edges, and shorelines, utilizing floating plants and dead vegetation.
Habitat
The habitat of bogota Rail typically consists of savanna and páramo marshes in temperate zones, where it favors environments with dense, tall vegetation such as reeds and rushes, including plant types like Scirpus, Typha, Juncus, and some Cortadera. Additionally, bogota Rail inhabits areas with abundant aquatic plants like Elodea, Myriophyllum, and Potamogeton. This species is often found in rushy fields, reedbeds, and fens, sometimes including regions with dwarf bamboo or modified habitats with floating plant mats excluding invasive Eichhornia.
