Feeding Habits
Star-throated Antwren primarily feeds on small insects such as crickets, grasshoppers, hemipterans, lepidopteran larvae, and spiders. It forages actively but not hurriedly from ground level to a height of 8m, utilizing perch-gleans, jumping sallies, and sally-pounces for prey capture. Unique foraging involves splaying wings to show white spots. Star-throated Antwren sometimes joins mixed-species flocks and has been observed following army ants for food.
Habitat
The star-throated Antwren inhabits the understory of evergreen forests, favoring dense vegetation and tangles. These environments are typically found along sluggish forest streams in the lowlands and within shaded ravines on mountainsides. The star-throated Antwren resides in broader tropical regions where such forested habitats are prevalent.
Dite type
Insectivorous
