Description
The tawny-faced quail (Rhynchortyx cinctus) is a species of bird in the family Odontophoridae, and the only species in its genus Rhynchortyx. It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

Feeding Habits
Tawny-faced Quail primarily consumes seeds, worms, and insects. Its foraging occurs on the ground, often scratching the leaf litter. Tawny-faced Quail is adapted to locate food in dense vegetation at dawn or dusk, displaying a preference for a diet rich in variety.
Habitat
Tawny-faced Quail primarily inhabit lowland tropical forests up to elevations of 1450 meters. They dwell on the forest floor where they forage but are known to roost in trees and bushes approximately 1 meter above the ground. These birds are associated with dense habitats within broad tropical regions, preferring areas where thick underbrush provides cover and opportunities for nesting.
