Feeding Habits
Greyish Saltator mainly consumes plant matter, including fruits, flowers, nectar, buds, and tender leaves. It also eats slow-moving invertebrates like ants and beetles. Its feeding behaviors involve foraging for seeds and petals, showcasing a varied vegetarian diet with occasional invertebrate consumption.
Habitat
The greyish Saltator occupies a diverse array of habitats including dry tropical scrub, semideciduous tropical forests, and the forested areas of young river islands, particularly in Amazonia. Typically found at the edges of gallery and river-edge forests, greyish Saltator avoids deep forest interiors, preferring forest fringes and secondary growth. Adaptable to human disturbances, greyish Saltator is also present in agricultural landscapes like coffee, sugar cane, and corn plantations, as well as in gardens and urban parks. Geographically, greyish Saltator's elevation range typically extends up to 1,300 meters, but varies regionally from near sea level in some parts of South America to 1,600 meters in Colombia, 1,200 meters in Peru, 1,300 meters in Ecuador, and occasionally up to 1,500 meters in Bolivia.
