Description
The yellow-eared toucanet (Selenidera spectabilis) is a species of bird in the family Ramphastidae found in humid forests of Central America and the Chocó. Cassin's aracari is an alternate name for the yellow-eared toucanet. A somewhat aberrant member of the genus Selenidera, it is relatively large (total length approximately 38 cm [15 in]) and the plumage of the sexes only differ in that the male has a yellow auricular streak, while the female has a brown crown. It weighs 175-245 grams (6.2-8.7 oz.)

Feeding Habits

Habitat

Its habitat also includes forest edges, adjacent secondary forests, and fruit-bearing trees in proximity to the forests. This species primarily inhabits elevations ranging from 300 to 1100 meters but has been observed from sea level up to approximately 1500 meters in certain areas.
