Feeding Habits
Greenish Yellow Finch primarily forage on the ground for seeds, such as those of Adesmia, and occasionally consume small insects from shrub foliage. They are also known to feed on flowers by introducing their heads into blooms like Cajophora. Greenish Yellow Finch forage singly, in pairs, or in flocks, and may exhibit daily communal roosting movements.
Habitat
The greenish Yellow Finch primarily dwells in shrubby puna habitats of highland regions, including slopes and the outskirts of human settlements. This bird is adaptable, frequenting agricultural territories, open woodlands enriched with Polylepis trees, and arid zones bordering absolute desert areas. In southern ranges, greenish Yellow Finch favors dry puna near features such as earthen banks or rocky outcrops suitable for nesting, often inhabiting areas with larger cacti in the highland zones.
