Description
The Chinese nuthatch grows to 12 cm in length. Both sexes have bluish-grey backs, and buff to orange-cinnamon breasts. The males has a black cap and eyestripe with a white supercilium, and whitish cheeks and throats, while the female has a grey crown, with a narrower supercilium, and is generally duller and browner above and below than the male. The Chinese nuthatch is found in mature coniferous forests or groves of trees.

Snowy-browed Nuthatch's diet varies seasonally, feeding predominantly on insects in summer and seeds, especially pine, in winter. They forage in tree canopies, often fluttering while upside-down to access food and occasionally diving for dropped items. Snowy-browed Nuthatch exhibits unique hoarding behavior, storing food for later consumption.
Habitat
Snowy-browed Nuthatch typically resides in coniferous forests, predominantly composed of pine and spruce, often accompanied by oak and birch trees. These birds are known to inhabit hilly regions, and they have also been recorded in conifer plantations as well as relict tree stands found around historical sites in lowlands. During the winter, snowy-browed Nuthatch expands its range, dispersing to the plains. Broadly, snowy-browed Nuthatch's habitat spans across areas with mixed forest vegetation and is associated with plateau larch forests and foothill pinewoods in certain regions.
