12 cm
Feeding Habits
Antillean Siskin predominantly consumes seeds, showcasing a diet focused on plant material. It forages efficiently using specialised bill adaptations, adaptably feeding at different times to maximise food availability. Distinctive preferences could include specific seed types, though general diet patterns follow typical granivorous behaviors.
Habitat
The preferred habitat of antillean Siskin encompasses the edges of montane moist broadleaf forests and lower montane pine forests, typically found at elevations between 1000–2500 meters. These birds are also known to inhabit open grassy clearings, weedy patches, and the peripheries of agricultural land. During the non-breeding season, antillean Siskin may descend to lower elevations, down to 500 meters, especially in response to colder temperatures, occupying edges of cultivation and dry scrub-forests.
