 Lesson's seedeater (Sporophila bouvronides) is a bird species in the family Thraupidae (formerly in Emberizidae). It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist shrubland and heavily degraded former forest.

  Lesson's Seedeater, primarily a granivore, feeds on a variety of grass seeds, exhibiting ground foraging behavior. This species is adapted with a robust bill, specialized for seed husking, indicating a strong dietary preference for seeds. 
    Habitat 
  Lesson's Seedeater typically inhabits grassy clearings, shrubby regions, and prefers areas that are in close proximity to water sources, particularly within tropical zones. They can be frequently found around the edges of woodlands during the breeding season and also occupy openings within forests. These birds thrive in varying elevations from sea level up to 1000 meters, adapting to a diverse range of environments from lower grounds to mid elevations.
