 The chestnut-bellied seedeater (Sporophila castaneiventris) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist shrubland and heavily degraded former forest.

  Chestnut-bellied Seedeater primarily eats grass seeds and fruits, including those of Cecropia trees and Müllerian bodies. They forage on stems and the ground, depending on grass availability, and consume fruit opened by larger species, often feeding in groups.

These birds are also prevalent in grassy patches within urban areas, including towns and villages.
