Feeding Habits
Temminck's Seedeater primarily consumes bamboo seeds, favoring those from Guadua species, and occasionally ingests insects. Temminck's Seedeater forages arboreally, adept at feeding on seeding bamboo, and may rely on giant sedge seeds as an alternative. Temminck's Seedeater typically feeds in mobile flocks.
Habitat
Temminck's Seedeater typically occupies secondary woodlands and forest edges, especially areas where bamboo, specifically of the Guadua and Chusquea genera, proliferates in the understory—indicating a preference for bamboo-dense environments. Additionally, they are known to inhabit overgrown edges that contain giant sedge (Hypolytrum), reflecting versatility within their preferred habitat conditions.
