Feeding Habits
Buffy-fronted Seedeater primarily consumes grass seeds, with a preference for bamboo seeds, especially from Guadua species. Adapted to arboreal foraging, it also feeds on larger insects when bamboo is scarce. Buffy-fronted Seedeater may feed in large groups during bamboo masting events and joins mixed-species flocks to search for seeds.
Habitat
The buffy-fronted Seedeater typically inhabits the understory of humid forests, favoring areas such as forest edges and shrubby clearings, particularly where bamboo species like Guadua and Chusquea are prevalent. These birds are adapted to environments that include overgrown areas adjacent to forests.
