 The lined seedeater (Sporophila lineola) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, pastureland, and heavily degraded former forest.

  Lined Seedeater primarily feasts on a variety of seeds, especially grass seeds, showcasing a granivorous diet. Foraging typically takes place during the day when lined Seedeater actively hunts for seeds on the ground, utilizing a pecking behavior to extract food. They possess a gizzard adapted for grinding seeds, reflecting a unique dietary specialization. 
    Habitat 
  The lined Seedeater inhabits broad tropical regions where it prefers semi-open landscapes, including Chaco woodland and shrubby grasslands, up to an elevation of 500 meters. During breeding, it seeks woodland edges and forests, while in non-breeding periods, it frequents grassy savannas and clearings often near water.
