Description
The chestnut-rumped babbler (Stachyris maculata) is a species of bird in the family Timaliidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Habitat
The chestnut-rumped Babbler is typically found in a variety of forest habitats which include primary and regenerating evergreen forests, areas of selective logging, and secondary growth. Its presence is also notable in peatswamp-forests, upland heaths, and occasionally in tidal riverine swamp-forests and older Albizia plantations. It displays a preference for the primary dipterocarp forests of broader Southeast Asian regions.
