The diademed tanager (Stephanophorus diadematus) is a species of Neotropical bird in the tanager family Thraupidae. It is the only member of the genus Stephanophorus. It is purple-blue with a white crown characterised by a small red patch, and it is found mostly in open areas in southern Brazil, northeast Argentina, and Uruguay.

Feeding Habits
Diademed Tanager primarily consumes a variety of fruits including figs, persimmons, and papayas, as well as flowers, buds, and some insects. They are known to eat secretions from plant lice as well. Typically found in pairs or small groups, diademed Tanager forages across different heights and can be seen gleaning from leaves.
Habitat
The diademed Tanager inhabits a range of wooded and semi-open environments. These include Araucaria forests, dense lowland woodlands, shrubby areas near marshes, and riverine woods. They can also be found in green urban areas like parks and gardens. While typically residing in lower elevation landscapes, in some locations they are most prevalent in mountainous areas within broader temperate zones.
