The breeding grounds for white-cheeked Tern consist of bare, open areas such as rock, sand, gravel, or coral islands. Their nests are simple scrapes found on flat surfaces ranging from sand-dunes to high-tide lines on beaches, and these sites can often be located at a considerable distance from the sea.
