Description
The greater wagtail-tyrant (Stigmatura budytoides) is a South American species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. A small bird, but larger than the related lesser wagtail-tyrant. The greater wagtail-tyrant occurs in two distinct populations: One in woodland and shrub in southeastern Bolivia, western Paraguay, and central and northwestern Argentina, and a second in the Caatinga region in northeastern Brazil. The latter is sometimes considered a separate species, the Caatinga wagtail-tyrant (S. gracilis).

Feeding Habits
Greater Wagtail-tyrant primarily feeds on insects, foraging actively in pairs or groups by perch-gleaning or hover-gleaning from foliage and occasionally sallying to the ground. Exhibits unique tail movements and wing-whir displays while foraging.
Habitat
The habitat of greater Wagtail-tyrant primarily comprises arid scrublands, deciduous woodlands, Chaco woodlands, and dry gallery forests. These birds are mainly found in the lower elevations of broader geographical regions characterized by arid or semi-arid climate conditions, with a penchant for areas that provide a mix of woodland and open landscapes.
