Description
The Chaco owl (Strix chacoensis) is an owl which inhabits dry Chaco woodland in southern Bolivia, western Paraguay and northern Argentina.

Chaco Owl favors a variety of arid to semi-arid habitats which typically include both dense and open woodlands, shrubby areas, and xerophytic forests. These environments are characterized by a mix of short and tall vegetation, including shrubs, low trees, and cacti. The species thrives in areas dominated by specific tree species such as quebracho, algarrobo, and chañar, and can also be found in mature forests with centennial trees.
