Description
The black-throated spinetail (Synallaxis castanea) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in the Venezuelan Coastal Range. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.

Black-throated Spinetail, predominantly forages near the ground, gleaning arthropods from foliage and branches within 1-2 meters. Often observed in pairs, its diet mainly consists of insects and small invertebrates.
Habitat
The black-throated Spinetail is typically found in montane evergreen forests and secondary forests, favoring undergrowth as well as the peripheries of cloud forests and regrown woodland areas. This bird is known to inhabit shrubby thickets, especially at the edges of forests and along roadsides, and is also occasionally found in areas with Chusquea bamboo thickets. It occupies regions characterized by dense vegetation providing ample cover and foraging opportunities.
