Description
The sooty-fronted spinetail (Synallaxis frontalis) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and heavily degraded former forest.

Sooty-fronted Spinetail predominantly consumes Coleoptera, gleaning arthropods chiefly from foliage and branches close to the ground, at heights mainly within 1–2 meters. Its foraging, typically done in pairs, includes searching the understorey and occasionally the ground.
Habitat
The sooty-fronted Spinetail typically resides in habitats ranging from tropical deciduous forests to arid area riparian woodlands. Preference is shown for environments with significant undergrowth or forest edges, including secondary forests and gallery forests. The species is also adapted to thorn-scrub, bushy savanna, and areas with early-successional second growth. Furthermore, it can be found in agricultural landscapes, utilizing hedgerows as part of its habitat.
