Feeding Habits
Plain-crowned Spinetail's diet consists primarily of arthropods, including Orthoptera and Lepidoptera larvae. These birds often forage in pairs, gleaning food from small branches, foliage, and grass, usually within 1-2 meters above the ground, but sometimes directly on the ground.
Habitat
Plain-crowned Spinetail predominantly inhabits river-edge, secondary, and gallery forests. It thrives in the undergrowth of riverine habitats, including dense scrublands dominated by Gynerium cane and Cecropia woodlands on aged river islands, as well as the peripheries of lofty várzea forests. These birds are also found in regenerating clear-cuts with lush, bushy vegetation and within plantation areas.
