The rufous spinetail (Synallaxis unirufa) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Rufous Spinetail primarily consumes arthropods. It forages usually in pairs or within mixed-species groups, gleaning food from foliage and branches up to 4 m high, mainly within 1–2 m from the ground.
Habitat
The rufous Spinetail is typically found in lush, montane and elfin forests, typically seeking the underbrush and fringes of humid cloud forests. They are often associated with Chusquea bamboo thickets and occasionally inhabit areas with tall second growth vegetation. These birds select environments that provide dense plant cover and moisture, characteristic of cloud forest ecosystems.
