Description

The tawny-crested tanager (Tachyphonus delatrii) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, and heavily degraded former forest.

Habitat
Tawny-crested Tanager typically inhabits humid and wet forest interiors, with a preference for regions characterized by overgrown forest borders, tall secondary growth, and shrubby areas recovering from deforestation. This species is most prolific in the lowland regions, commonly up to 800 meters elevation, but can be found as high as 1200 meters in places like Costa Rica and up to 1500 meters in regions of Colombia.
