Description
The golden tanager (Tangara arthus) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is widespread and often common in highland forests of the Andes (from Bolivia and northwards) and Venezuelan Coastal Range in north-western South America. Its plumage is overall golden-yellow with black to the back, wings, tail and ear-coverts. Some subspecies are partially/largely brown below.

The golden Tanager primarily inhabits humid montane evergreen forests where it favors the dense vegetation canopies. It is occasionally encountered at the edges of these forests and may venture into nearby secondary growth areas that have regrown after initial forest clearing. The species thrives in environments that provide ample foliage cover and access to the rich food resources typical of these lush, forested ecosystems.
