Habitat
The emerald Tanager primarily inhabits the canopy and borders of hilly humid lowland to montane evergreen mossy forests, often in regions with secondary growth. Typically residing within varied levels of the forest canopy, it rarely descends to the forest floor. Found across broader neotropical regions, it occupies elevations up to 1200 meters, with a propensity for higher elevations in northern parts of its range and a slightly lower elevation range towards the south. While predominantly a forest-dweller, the emerald Tanager occasionally frequents fruiting trees in semi-open areas adjacent to forests.
