The rufous-cheeked tanager (Tangara rufigenis) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae, the tanagers. It is endemic to Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Habitat
Rufous-cheeked Tanager typically inhabits humid and wet forests, often frequenting the edges, and thrives in areas of secondary growth or disturbed vegetation, particularly in small clearings. Their environment is characterized by a notable presence of Miconia trees and other melastomes, preferring areas of landslides on steep slopes. These birds are generally found in the tropical regions of South America.
