Description
The blue-and-black tanager (Tangara vassorii) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.

The blue-and-black Tanager is typically found in montane evergreen and elfin forests, favoring habitats that include forest edges, secondary growth, as well as shrubs and trees in forest clearings. It is a unique member of the Tangara genus inhabiting these dense, humid woodland environments within the broader Andean mountain region.
