Feeding Habits
Large Woodshrike primarily consumes large insects, including mantids, crickets, stick-insects, grasshoppers, beetles, dragonflies, large moths, caterpillars, and some fruit. Forages in trees and understorey, sometimes ground, stirring prey from leaves, bark, or water surfaces, often within mixed-species flocks.
Habitat
The habitat of large Woodshrike primarily includes broadleaf evergreen and mixed deciduous forests, forest edges, and areas with secondary growth such as logged forests retaining some tall trees. Large Woodshrike is also found in varied wooded environments ranging from overgrown teak plantations and gardens to mangroves. Adapted to disturbed habitats, this species often thrives in secondary forest areas, and in certain regions, it inhabits peat swamp forests and kerangas.
