Description
The saturnine antshrike (Thamnomanes saturninus) is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, and Peru. Feeding Habits
Saturnine Antshrike preys on insects like katydids, mantids, and various arthropods. Preferring understorey palms, saturnine Antshrike forages 1-4m up, making sallies to snatch prey from foliage or air. Often part of mixed-species flocks, saturnine Antshrike may follow army ant swarms to find food.
Habitat
The saturnine Antshrike primarily occupies the understory of lowland evergreen forests within broader tropical regions. These birds are more frequently found in terra firme forests, which are non-flooded areas, and are less commonly seen in regions of seasonally flooded forests.
