Feeding Habits
Plain-winged Antshrike consumes a variety of insects and arthropods, foraging mostly at heights of 5–10 meters, but ranging from ground level to 30 meters. They exhibit upright foraging, sally- and hover-gleaning from vegetation, and occasionally join mixed-species flocks. Plain-winged Antshrike uses quick bill stabs for perch-gleaning and manipulates prey on lower perches.
Habitat
The typical habitat for plain-winged Antshrike encompasses the mid-story of both upland and seasonally flooded lowland evergreen forests. The species displays a preference for seasonally inundated forests, particularly in areas where it coexists with similar species. Plain-winged Antshrike is primarily found in the interior of these lush environments but may also inhabit dense vegetation on forest margins or nearby secondary growth areas.
