Description
The striated softtail (Thripophaga macroura) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is endemic to eastern Brazil. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Feeding Habits
Striated Softtail predominantly consumes arthropods, including Orthoptera. It forages alone, in pairs, or small groups, often joining mixed-species flocks. Gleaning food from various surfaces is a key feeding behavior.

The habitat of striated Softtail typically includes tropical lowland evergreen forests, extending into areas of degraded forest patches. This bird species prefers regions abundant with dense vine tangles, thriving in environments rich in vegetation from near sea-level regions.
