  Feeding Habits
Hairy-backed Bulbul primarily eats insects and fruit, foraging within the lower to middle forest storeys. Preferring caterpillars, beetles, and other arthropods, hairy-backed Bulbul also consumes berries from specific plants like Macaranga and Trema orientalis. Noted for joining mixed-species flocks, hairy-backed Bulbul displays active hunting behavior akin to babblers and peaks in foraging at dawn and dusk, never feeding on the ground.
    Habitat
The hairy-backed Bulbul predominantly resides in lush evergreen forests that have matured or undergone regeneration sufficient to form closed canopies. Its preferred environs also include peat swamp forests as well as structured secondary forests, often with bamboo as a notable vegetation component. These habitats are generally located in lowland regions.
