Habitat
Spotted Redshank typically inhabits the Arctic regions of the Palearctic, breeding in areas like open wooded tundra, swampy pine or birch forests near the treeline, and a variety of open landscapes such as heathland and shrub tundra. Outside of the breeding season, spotted Redshank can be found in a diverse array of freshwater or brackish wetlands, extending to sewage farms, irrigated rice fields, brackish lagoons, saltmarshes, saltpans, and sheltered muddy coastal areas. Generally less likely to be found in marine environments compared to related species, spotted Redshank's elevational range spans from sea level up to significant mountain heights, with recorded presences at altitudes as high as 4730 meters.
