Feeding Habits
Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush consumes a varied diet of insects, larvae, snails, leeches, berries, seeds, flowers, and plants, with a preference for animal matter in warmer months. Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush forages on the ground or in vegetation, often in groups, digging through leaf litter or exploring lichen-covered trees.
Habitat
Chestnut-crowned Laughingthrush thrives in environments that comprise understory and dense undergrowth, often marked by the presence of bamboo within broadleaf evergreen forests. They are also found within pine and mixed woodland areas, as well as amongst dwarf rhododendron, bramble, and barberry scrubs, frequently located in gullies or at the edges of cultivated lands adjacent to forests. They inhabit regions that feature thick scrub and grassland close to forested zones. Their habitat preferences favor forested areas that exhibit rich, diverse vegetation and cover, which is essential for their shelter and feeding.
