Feeding Habits
Lattice-tailed Trogon primarily consumes fruits, particularly from the Lauraceae family, and supplements its diet with large insects, small frogs, and lizards. It forages by sallying from perches to catch prey.
Habitat
Lattice-tailed Trogon primarily inhabits the lower canopy and middle levels of humid and wet forests located in foothills and on lower mountain slopes. Positioned within elevations ranging from 90 to 1360 meters, this species prefers undisturbed tall forests and is more frequently associated with hilly or lower montane regions compared to its sympatric relatives. Although seldom found in flat lowlands, lattice-tailed Trogon occasionally ventures to forest edges or into adjacent shaded semi-open spaces. Its central habitat extends across the cordilleran zones, embracing the more humid areas characteristic of these regions.
