Description
The male has a blue crown, a black face, a red belly, a green back and a striped tail. The female lacks the colourful plumage.

Feeding Habits
Blue-crowned Trogon primarily consumes insects, such as caterpillars, grasshoppers, beetles, dragonflies, and wasps, and a variety of small fruits. Blue-crowned Trogon forages actively and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks for feeding.
Habitat
Blue-crowned Trogon is commonly found in an array of forest habitats including both pristine and secondary growths and regions characterized by a mixture of trees and other vegetation. These habitats encompass riverine forest areas, such as várzea and gallery forests, along with transition zones, and areas near lakes. Blue-crowned Trogon is also adapted to various woodland biomes, including monsoon forests, dry semi-deciduous forests, and savanna woodlands, as well as areas with dense shrubbery and at the edges of woodlands.
