Feeding Habits
Dusky Thrush has an omnivorous diet, consisting mainly of insects, mosquitoes, earthworms, and berries. It forages on the ground and in foliage, with specialized feeding techniques for each type of prey. Seasonal food availability influences its dietary preferences.
Habitat
The dusky Thrush typically inhabits open woodland areas and montane regions. During breeding season, this bird is found in lowland tundra edges, dense riverine forests comprising willow and poplar, wooded steppe, and occasionally in open coniferous forests. Its habitat is similar to that of its close relative, the Naumann's thrush, but with a preference for more mountainous terrains. In winter, the dusky Thrush occupies a variety of landscapes including hillside scrub, open grasslands, sparse woods, farmlands with crops, orchards, and suburban green spaces such as parks and gardens, ranging from foothills up to elevations of 3000 meters.
