Feeding Habits
Chestnut Thrush primarily feeds on insects, larvae, worms, millipedes, slugs, snails, and berries, favoring Viburnum nervosum berries in July. Winter diet depends more on berries. Foraging occurs on the ground in thickets and forests. Chestnut Thrush forms small flocks, sometimes with other thrushes, especially during winter.
Habitat
The chestnut Thrush establishes its habitat in moist conifer and mixed conifer-broadleaf evergreen forests characterized by an abundance of vegetation types such as deodar, fir, horse-chestnut, and brown oak. The species favors areas with substantial ground cover and typically occupies the shadier parts of these forests, avoiding the drier interiors with less undergrowth.
