Description
The blue-spotted wood dove (Turtur afer) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is abundantly present throughout Africa south of the Sahel; it is partially present in East Africa and absent in southern Africa.

Feeding Habits
Blue-spotted Wood Dove mainly feeds on grass seeds, complemented by castor-oil seeds, termites, and snails. Feeding occurs on the ground, either alone or in pairs, with occasional small groups in favorable areas.
Habitat
Blue-spotted Wood Dove predominantly inhabits moist woodlands, secondary forests, and their edges. These birds are also found in montane forest clearings and within the dense undergrowth of Acacia and Combretum savannas. Additionally, their habitat extends to human-altered environments, including gardens, farmland, mangrove swamps, and Eucalyptus plantations across broader regions that receive ample annual rainfall.
