The yellow-crowned tyrannulet (Tyrannulus elatus) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is monotypic within the genus Tyrannulus. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, where its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, subtropical or tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.

Habitat
The yellow-crowned Tyrannulet primarily inhabits humid lowland evergreen forests, thriving in areas with second growth and at forest edges. This bird species is also accustomed to lighter woodlands, shrubby clearings, and adapts well to modified landscapes such as coffee or citrus plantations, gardens, and parks. It can be found high in the canopy of primary forests, occasionally calling from the tops of emergent trees. Its range extends through the lowlands and into the foothills, at elevations up to approximately 1200 meters.
