Feeding Habits
Loggerhead Kingbird primarily feeds on flying insects, supplementing its diet with small fruit, berries, and lizards. It employs agile aerial hunting techniques, uniquely adapted to capture quick-moving prey.
Habitat
Loggerhead Kingbird predominantly inhabits forests, including mangroves and the edges of swamps. It is also found in open lowland scrublands. During certain seasons, specifically November to March, loggerhead Kingbird expands its range to encompass gardens, settled areas, and open forests. This seasonal expansion in habitat occurs notably in regions where the Grey Kingbird migrates away, allowing loggerhead Kingbird to utilize a wider variety of habitats in these broader geographic tropical regions.
