Description
The buff-breasted earthcreeper (Upucerthia validirostris) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found throughout the Puna grassland and mountains of northwestern Argentina. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland and subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. It has been lumped together with the plain-breasted earthcreeper based on song, continuous song, duet, and call.

Buff-breasted Earthcreeper's primary diet consists of arthropods such as lepidopteran larvae, and larvae and adults of beetles (Coleoptera), flies (Diptera), and springtails (Collembola). Typically solitary or in pairs, it forages by probing and gleaning from the ground.
Habitat
The habitat of buff-breasted Earthcreeper encompasses puna grasslands and arid montane scrub, favoring dry washes, ravines with dense vegetation such as Polylepis trees and Puya bromeliads, as well as rocky and shrubby slopes. They typically avoid flat terrain, preferring areas with varied topography.
