Description

The agile tit-tyrant (Uromyias agilis) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers. It is native to Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. This bird lives in mountain forests in the Andes. It is associated with bamboo of the genus Chusquea. It builds its nest in the stalks, using the leaves to weave the cup and lining it with the feathers of other birds.

Agile Tit-tyrant mainly consumes insects, foraging actively in pairs or small groups. Often associates with mixed-species flocks, feeding near the ground with perch-gleaning and upward strikes, occasionally performing acrobatic maneuvers on thin twigs.
Habitat
The agile Tit-tyrant predominantly inhabits upper montane cloud forests and shrubby elfin-forest thickets which are often characterized by dense growths of mixed or pure Chusquea bamboo. These environments are marked by a significant presence of moisture and a complex forest structure that provides shelter and feeding opportunities for the species.
